Hiking
For thoses who’d like to visit the Cinque Terre
on foot, it is possible start the excursion in Levanto, following the path from
Levanto to Monterosso.
The path starts with the stairs leading up to the castle, passing the house in
which
Guglielmo
Marconi executed his first radio transmissions. Soon after, one
reaches 'le Case San Carlo', where the National Park of the Cinqueterre starts.
From Levanto to Monterosso, 2 to 3 hours
(Beautiful path along the coast overlooking the sea)
From Monterosso to Riomaggiore, 5 to 6 hours
(Sentiero Azzurro along the coast overlooking the sea)
From Monterosso to Vernazza, 2 hours
Rough narrow trail, steep at times. Beautiful views of Vernazza.
From Vernazza to Corniglia, 2 hours
The greenest hike of the coast, steep at times.
From Corniglia to Manarola, 45 minutes
A broad and scenic low trail past a beach.
From Manarola to Riomaggiore, 30 minutes
The famous Via dell'Amore, paved trail cut into the cliff.
Riomaggiore down the headland to Portovenere, approx. 8 hours

Association Cinque Terre.

How to visit the Cinque Terre by boat
A novel idea for seeing the Cinque Terre is by boat, departing from Levanto and arriving in Portovenere,
skirting the coast with a call at Monterosso and Vernazza.
Another handy and impressive means for getting to the towns
Monterosso,Vernazza, Manarola and Riomaggiore is with a small boat. (with a limited number of passengers),
which offers a fast and efficient service, allowing full appreciation of the natural beauty of these
small towns nestling in the coastline.

Scubadiving
There are various excellent dive-spots around Levanto and the Cinqueterre. The area between Levanto and Monterosso has been declared a Marine Park since 1998.

Surfing
Levanto has some of Italian biggest lefts.
Levanto's big bay offers several peaks and is
partly protected on the south side. It takes a big
S/W swell to make it pump. Holds up to 8-10 ft
especially in the middle of the bay where big left
tubes and nice rights make it worth the drive from
the Versilia area. Seldom crowded, clean water.
The best months are March to May or September
to November when the waves are more regular
and the water is still warm.

Mountainbiking
The area of Levanto and adjacent Cinqueterre is an perfect place for mountainbikers of all levels. A very well made map with different
